Auto Insurance

Your car gets you everywhere — let's make sure you're not one accident away from a financial mess.

What Is Auto Insurance?

Auto insurance covers damage to your vehicle, injuries to you and your passengers, and liability if you cause an accident. It's required by law in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee — but here's the thing: state minimums are just that, minimums. They might check the legal box, but they often leave you exposed if something serious happens. We'll walk you through what's actually on your policy so you're not guessing when it matters.

Why Auto Insurance Matters

One accident can rack up tens of thousands in medical bills, repairs, and legal costs. Without the right coverage, that comes out of your pocket. We've seen it happen, and it's not pretty. A well-structured auto policy is the difference between a bad day and a financial disaster.

Who Needs Auto Insurance?

If you own or regularly drive a vehicle, you need this. Daily commuters, families with teen drivers, anyone financing or leasing — and honestly, anyone who'd rather not roll the dice with state minimums and hope for the best.

Coverage Highlights

  • Liability coverage (bodily injury and property damage)
  • Collision and comprehensive coverage
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist protection
  • Medical payments coverage
  • Rental reimbursement and roadside assistance
  • Multi-vehicle and multi-policy discounts

Local Considerations

Around here — North Mississippi, Northwest Alabama, Southern Middle Tennessee — deer collisions are a real thing. So is hail damage. And uninsured motorists are more common than you'd think. We help you put together coverage that accounts for the stuff that actually happens in this area, not just what the state says you need.

Auto Insurance Questions We Actually Get

Straight answers to what people ask us around here.

What is the minimum auto liability in Mississippi?
25/50/25 — $25,000 per person for bodily injury, $50,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. That is the floor the state sets. Most folks around here carry more than the floor, and above it, it really comes down to what you can comfortably afford to protect.
I hit a deer on MS-25. Is that a collision claim?
Usually it is not. Most auto policies handle an animal strike under comprehensive rather than collision, and on a lot of policies that is a different deductible than the one for hitting another car. Deer season on MS-25 and MS-30 makes this one of the more common calls we take in November. Your own policy is the thing that says which way yours is written.
I live in Mississippi and work in Alabama. Where does the car get insured?
Generally a vehicle is rated where it is garaged overnight rather than where it is driven during the day, so for most people commuting US-72 that means Mississippi. It gets more complicated when a vehicle is titled in one state and kept in another. That one is a conversation, not a form.
Does a teenager have to go on our policy?
Once there is a licensed driver in the household, carriers generally expect to know about them, whether or not they own a car. Leaving a new driver off is the kind of thing that tends to surface at exactly the wrong moment. Better to call before the license than after.
