Business Insurance

You built this business from scratch. Let's make sure one bad day doesn't take it all away.

What Is Business Insurance?

Business insurance isn't one-size-fits-all — and that's where a lot of people get tripped up. Whether you run a small shop, a contracting company, a professional service firm, or a growing operation with employees, your coverage needs to match your actual risk. We put together commercial programs that address your property, liability, workers, and income so a single event doesn't shut you down.

Why Business Insurance Matters

A lawsuit, a fire, an employee injury, a contract dispute — any of these can threaten the business you've built. Commercial insurance is designed to help you keep the doors open when something goes wrong. It's not just overhead — it's what stands between you and starting over.

Who Needs Business Insurance?

If you earn income from a business — sole proprietor, contractor, LLC, whatever the setup — you need some form of commercial coverage. The specifics depend on your operation, and that's exactly the kind of thing we help people figure out.

Business Insurance Questions We Actually Get

Straight answers to what people ask us around here.

I run the business out of my house. Is that different?
Usually, yes. Most homeowners policies are written for a residence rather than a business, and business property or business liability at the same address is typically handled by a separate policy or an endorsement rather than the base form. Which one fits depends on what the business actually does.
The general contractor wants a certificate of insurance. What is that?
A one-page proof that the coverage exists — policies, limits and dates — usually with the contractor named as a certificate holder. Sometimes they also ask to be named as an additional insured, which is a different thing and it matters. We issue these routinely; call or text the office and we will get it over.
We work in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Does the policy follow us?
It depends on how it is written. Commercial policies name the states they respond in, and a crew working across the line on US-72 is a common way a business finds out its policy does not say what everybody assumed. Better checked before the job than after.
How small is too small for commercial coverage?
There is not really a floor. A one-truck operation and a twelve-person shop are different policies, but both are policies. Honestly, some of what gets sold to very small operations is more coverage than the operation is exposed to — we would rather say that up front than sell around it.
